Google Open Android Market To Paid Apps

Android application developers in the US and UK can now sale their apps in the Android Market. Developers can submit priced applications to Google that will be sold in the Android Market starting next week said Google's Eric Chu in a blog post published today.

Initially Google will only be accepting applications from developers in the US and UK with plans to allow developers in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, France, and Spain later this year. Similarly Google will only be making paid apps available to end users in the US starting mid week next week, with more countries being added soon.

Google Checkout will serve as the payment and billing mechanism for Android Market. Developers who do not already have a Google Checkout merchant account can easily sign up for one via the publisher website.
