Originally used as a landing page to track Tweets that began with @Yourusername the @replies function left a little to be desired. Without the addition of a third party app Tweeters couldn't see all Tweets that feature their username. Today Twitter announced an update to the @Replies page.
The new update, which Twitter is now referring to it as Mentions, will show in as your own @username in the sidebar. When you click that tab, you'll see a list of all tweets referencing your account with the @username convention anywhere in the tweet—instead of only at the beginning which is how it used to work. So for me it would be all mentions of @Geek_News.
Of course this functionality was already available when using the Twitter search, or through a third party client like TweetDeck or Power Twitter. But with this update user can now keep track of conversation involving their username through the Twitter web interface.
