Apple's Mac App Store Opens Tops One Million Downloads in First Day

Apple's newly opened Mac App Store seems to be an over night success with the company claiming more than one millions apps have been downloaded in the first day.

“We’re amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Developers have done a great job bringing apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is.”

The Mac App Store is just like the App Store for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Essentially its is an all in one repository where Apple fans can download just about everything for their Macs running OSX Snow Leopard including a few freebies.

Users can browse Mac apps by category, such as games, productivity, music, and more. Or do a quick search for something specific. Read developer descriptions and user reviews. Flip through screenshots. When you find an app you like, click to buy it. Currently there are more than 1,000 apps in listed under education, games, graphics & design, lifestyle, productivity, utilities and other categories.
